Should I Lay My Story to Rest?

The Story Graveyard. (That’s me fleeing at the top of the stairs.)

I have not been obsessively calculating progress made on the first draft of my book lately. Probably because I’ve been neglecting it so terribly. Seriously considering laying this story to rest. My blog is becoming a memorial site for it anyway. I am 74% done the first round of revisions. I realize now that I’ve been so stuck making revisions because there are some major problems with the story at this point. I’m going to have to do some major re-writing and I’m just not feeling it. When I was writing the first draft, I got to a point where I just wanted to finish the damn thing. So I rushed it, resulting in some crappy writing and the ability to not know what the hell is going on in my own story.

So I’m re-reading it. Then it’s time to brainstorm how to fix it. Or bury it.

How do you know when it’s time to move on?

On another note, I made the Zombie News! Speaking of which, I am having serious withdrawals from the AMC TV Series The Walking Dead. As far as I know, the second season isn’t starting until the fall. On a funny note, apparently, the zombie extras have been banned from the catering table, because they’re, well…just unappetizing.

You can find the rest of my posts on the subject of writing, under the category The Writing Process, found in the right hand column of my blog.
